Traps: Traps: Oval Discolored Ring With Teeth: Spring-Loaded Jaws

General Description

These traps are easy to spot, even by novice locksmiths. The oval ring on the outside of the box makes it almost as plain as day.

Physically Viewing This Trap

Magically Witnessing The Oval Ring

As Seen When Casting Piercing Gaze

You notice a discolored oval ring around the outside of the box which makes you suspicious. Your suspicions are confirmed when you look inside the keyhole and notice the spring-loaded jaws pressed flush against the box walls.

Tripping The Trap, Get Bit!

If you set this trap off, you'll likely get stunned at the loss of a hand. They always severe a hand. And if you look closely around, you might see your hand laying on the ground.

The Jaws Bite Hard

These traps, commonly found on kobold strong-boxes and goblin chests, offer great disarming training. Literally.

Magically Tripping The Jaws

Wizards and sorcerers love these traps. For wizards, the traps end up easy to disarm. For sorcerers, some trip the traps on purpose.

Magically Disarming

These traps are easy to disarm. They are fun. Wizards wince and sorcerers laugh at thieves that fail at disarmming such traps. This trap perhaps represents the easiest trap to disarm, but failure results in a lost limb.
