As you concentrate on casting your magicks at it, faint sparkles surround and embed the modwir short-staff, and join themselves to its very structure. Then the sparkles pulse brighter, in unison. A bright aura suddenly surrounds the modwir short-staff and seems to consume it! After a moment the glow fades and the modwir short-staff returns to normal. The enchantment was successful.

You pour your duqnuru potion on the short-staff. The liquid oozes over the surface of your modwir short-staff, creating a faint aura of steam. With a soft cloth, you work the liquid in well until you hear a faint crackling noise coming from it, and it appears faded. The tempering seems to have been successful. Your modwir short-staff should be ready to enchant in 2 to 3 days.

From the way the liquid bubbles and hisses on the modwir short-staff, you can tell that it is already tempered. Careful examination shows the item is on the first stage of the enchant process and will be ready to enchant in about 1 day. (should be ready 09/03/2002, 9:00 pm)

You touch the crystal with one hand, your modwir short-staff in the other hand. Tiny sparks of brilliant golden light dance across your short-staff. An orange beam shoots up from your short-staff toward the ceiling. A shrill, piercing note sounds, echoing through the room.
